Is drinkable water available anywhere in Europe straight from public fountains?

There are hardly any public fountains for drinking in Germany. A workaround could be to go to a public toilet and use drinking water from the faucet. The water system is in a good condition and faucet water is alright.

Way back in 19 and 70 any tap water in Germany and Holland was fine, same with the water in Paris. I brushed my teeth with water in Barcelona and learned a new meaning to set free that Abe Lincoln never knew. It's gotta be better now.
