First, there was a systemic problem with segregation, such that, even had the government stopped supporting it, it would have been maintained by informal social sanction. Since this relegated the affected minority to second- class citizenship, the state had an compelling interest in breaking the back of segregation. Second, there is no recognized religious revelation nor coherent philosophy which can support the belief in the evil of dark pigmentation, whereas there are recognized religious teachings which might lead to the formation of a moral sensibility that would find it excruciating to service homosexuals. In other words, not all sentiments are ratified as matters of conscience, some we say "tough luck" to........
