It is clear that the offer was made, Clinton did not want him. And Clinton let the Cole get bombed and regardless of whether Osama was caught or not, that did not have to happen. It was budget cuts in defense voted on by Kerry that caused things like the Cole bombing to happen.

AS,

Re: I have even heard stories that Osama was once a CIA operative. WHo knows?

Those who know aren't saying. :)

Osama Bin Laden's connection with the CIA may have been fairly arm's length. The point of connection is that Bin Laden and the CIA were both engaged in arming and organizing the mujahadeen resistance in Afghanistan and in the Afghan refugee camps in Pakistan during the 1980's. I've never seen anything definitive to the effect that Bin Laden was directly employed by the C.I.A. But it certainly wouldn't be a surprising situation.

After all, recently reveled records show the C.I.A. employing the U.S.'s other bogeyman, Saddam Hussein, as early as 1959, when he was a thug for hire.

You are probably the only person in America who thinks it's unclear. The .mp3 file that was posted at least twice yesterday is of Clinton admitting he passed up the opportunity to get him.
