"need to be able to have honest discussions of such issues. " So who is stopping you from having these "discussions"? No one. You are free to have discussions, if other people think you are simply airing your prejudices, it is their right to have that opinion. Perhaps you do not feel your ideas are fairly treated? That may be a problem with your ideas, and not really Thought police. Society may simply have become more tolerant than you can approve of, and thus some opprobrium may attach to your opinions. I can't see that as Thought Police, although I understand how tempting it is to believe in TP, when the world doesn't seem to be turning your way.
