As I understand it, our 'main' goal is to remain in Iraq until the people of Iraq are able to establish autonomy in their government and national security. I don't know how closely that reflects the literal stated goal of our representatives but I believe it captures the gist of it. There are other complicating factors that we are forced to deal with simultaneously, like the OBL type organizations declaring Iraq the new battleground. It seems our government also has the objective of getting other political powers to take a stand and support our position.
