Gee, if we combine Alberta and Montana, we get what, at least 25 or 30 voters? ;<) The point is that most Americans are emotionally and intellectually unequipped to deal with a weird, perverse, bizarre world that is different from the one-dimensional universe they inhabit. I grew up in that universe and know it pretty well - combine suburban Dallas and the Arab "street" and you get Mars and Venus. I don't think there is any easy solution. Certainly nothing anyone can reduce to a Washington sound bite or 25-word solution to the world's problems. I guess I will never get a nationally syndicated talk radio show with that attitude.
