To: Bilow who wrote (114634 ) 9/13/2003 7:52:41 PM From: Hawkmoon Respond to of 281500 So you admit my point, that the number of people killed in combat in a real war is far, far, far, greater than the tiny number of Arabs who have killed themselves in suicide attacks. Please name for me the last time since Nagasaki and Hiroshima that two hours of combat snuffed out the lives of 3,000 people... (let alone 25,000 as potentially could have occurred had the attack been launched two hours later). And as for what constitutes a "criminal threat", did we not try, convict, and execute many Nazi and Japanese leaders as war criminals? War is what happens when legal means of combatting the criminal plans of those who perpetrate such aggression break down. Just as cops often resort to the use of force to capture and detain such criminals and preserve social order, military action is sometimes utilized on a grander scale to preserve international order. And in both cases innocent people are often killed by both criminals and the enforcement authorities. How do you know this? Are you psychic? Then why are the children of Iran, the oldest running Islamofascist state so far, so supportive of the United States? The facts are that you have zero evidence in favor of your claim. Maybe I have what you don't seem to possess... A knack for the obvious. As for Iran.. most Iranians above the age of 30 understand that the brutality of the Shah, bad as it might have been, was not nearly as bad as the current regime and that they had much more economic opportunity and hope under his regime than exists now. Those under the age of 30 have learned this from their parents.. But in Iraq, that memory has largely been erased from the social memory. Few remember the Hashemite period of rule. All they know is 35+ plus years of Baathist domination and Saddam Hussein's brutality. And something else you seem intent on forgetting. One of the reasons Saddam went to war against Iran in the 1980's was due to his concern that Iran was undermining his regime (as well as trying to assassinate his supporters) amongst the Shiite population of the south. So he turned to the long standing disdain Arabs and Persians have for one another. Saddam launched a pre-emptive strike before Khomeini could solidify his support amongst Shiite Arabs in Iraq who had previously sheltered him from the Shah:iranchamber.com The principal events that touched off the rapid deterioration in relations occurred during the spring of 1980. In April the Iranian-supported Ad Dawah attempted to assassinate Iraqi foreign minister Tariq Aziz. Shortly after the failed grenade attack on Tariq Aziz, Ad Dawah was suspected of attempting to assassinate another Iraqi leader, Minister of Culture and Information Latif Nayyif Jasim. In response, the Iraqis immediately rounded up members and supporters of Ad Dawah and deported to Iran thousands of Shias of Iranian origin. In the summer of 1980, Saddam Hussein ordered the executions of presumed Ad Dawah leader Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Baqr as Sadr and his sister. The simple fact is that children raised in a strict religious environment tend to rebel against it. Sure.. but a small percentage of them go on to fanatically espouse it. Look at any religious college such as Falwell's Liberty college (I almost was mugged in Lynchburg, VA).. The difference is that I don't know of any Christian colleges which espouse launching violent crusades against muslims either here, or in their own native lands. Nor do I know of any Christian schools who teach that Muslims are sub-human, and must be killed. However, I DO know that Wahhabists and Salafi muslims, financed by wealthy Saudis, are brain-washing young muslims to wage Jihad against the west (not just the US). And I do know of muslim schools where children are taught that christians and jews are sub-human and that they must be converted or killed. And these muslim children have no opportunity to rebel against their instructors. And since in these Madrassahs these children learn nothing else but the Koran (I know of few, if any, Christian schools that teach nothing but the Bible), they have no education outside of their memorization of the Koran. Thus, they have few, if any, means of making a living outside of the militant religious community into which they have grown up. I don't need to be psychic to recognize that. But I would have to be psycho to ignore it, and it's obvious repercussions in coming years with regard to an increase in Islamo-fascist terrorism. Hawk
