NIF.UN holds a smelter that Noranda sold to raise some cash. Smelters are being closed around the world, smelters have enormous environmental liabilities. Miners is where it's at, it's ore that runs out, not smelter facilities. Besides Teck has announced a new way to extract zinc without using a smelter. I also think that Noranda is the source of zinc supply to NIF.UN but only for a limited few years, then they would have to source zinc cons on the world market and fight the Chinese for whatever is out there. I have not studied the situation in detail however, these were my first impressions when the issue came to market.
