The workers who paid into the Social Security system should be be guaranteed their payments after retirement. Why would you want the American government to default on contractual agreements with the workers who pay the taxes? Israelis pay no American taxes and have no right to our tax money, yet have received hundreds of billions in welfare payments(gifts?) over the last few decades. They received $14 billion only last year while the American taxpayers are suffering from a bad recession. Fourteen billion to Israel/Judaism while but no relief from the feds for the states. The only part of the entitlements that should be abolished is medacaid and the policy of given Social Security benefits to immigrants after only a couple of years in this country. Social Security benefits should be paid stictly to those who paid the Social Security tax!
