... the Bush administration ...responsible for the anthrax letters?

Here's what I believe: there is an un-American lack of motivation for the administration to investigate any of the events since Bush took office, or prior either, going back to Reagan, Bush I and Clinton.

There is in fact abundant evidence of stonewalling, deception and lying at every turn.

There is also abundant evidence that each incident is used to launch well-rehearsed legislative measures, which make all such information about current and past actions more secret, less accessible, add greater penalties to control any whistleblowers, and increase central control, fascism and profiteering.

Add all that up, and you have either incompetence or criminality, take your pick. Whichever you choose, the Bushies need to be taken out
of office and full investigations made, with complete and public protection for all witnesses and whistleblowers.

The media won't do it if there is stonewalling, as CIA Director Wm Colby famously said, "we control every influential media outlet" before he met his death.

The Congress won't do it if there is the impression that some will be killed "accidentally" like Wellstone or threatened like the anthrax scare.

Eventually, the American people will say enough is enough and insist on complete and public investigations of every individual, incident and document, and will no longer be deterred by terrorism threats, or the "national security", "it wasn't me it was Clinton", "we forgot", "we lost it", or "we just screwed up" excuses. Whether it will be before our politial system and economy are completely destroyed is another question.

"Congressman, do you feel you may be threatened with lethal force if you don't play ball with the Bush administration?"

That's a somewhat more important question than what we think.

I.e., in their heart of hearts, do congressmen ever think about the Wellstone death, anthrax killings, sniper killings, or any other such events that preceded major neocon legislative maneuvers...

If they are afraid after recent experience, that's understandable -- maybe they've read Mao's famous statement on the politics of assassination: "kill one, scare a thousand".
