Kerry earned the "war hero" tag. He turned a losing effort on the Mekong River into a winning one by insisting upon taking the offensive not the defensive against Viet Cong shooting at our boats from the shorelines. That took a lot of raw courage.

If you saw APOCALYPSE NOW you know the SB's and how vulnerable they were to enemy fire. Kerry commanded with great courage and honor, saved lives, instilled courage in his men, killed enemy and was wounded three times.

They don't hand out Silver and Bronze Stars for nothing you know. You have to earn them. Bushies would love to erase this, but it's part of John Kerry, and it has tempered him his whole life to be unafraid of any challenge.

He also sees both sides of the coin, which is rare. He is neither hawk nor dove. He can be warlike or peaceful. He doesn't shoot from the hip but when he shoots his aim is true. Plus he's one of the top experts on all kinds of other key issues and challenges facing us after 2004.
