Ken, trying to inform the zealots is a lost cause. Knowing something about publishing history books, I will tell you that it is a waste of paper because they never learn. Your comments about Clinton balancing the budget and creating a surplus, all the while we had the greatest sustained boom in job creation and the overall economy, it falls on deaf ears. Why is this? For example, we now have the recall effort going on in California. The right wingers like to hold up Ronald Reagan as the model for government leadership. So lets go back in time (some might call it history) to when Reagan was elected governor of California on a platform of tax reduction. There we find that even though he ran with a tax reduction campaign, within two months of taking office he offered Californians a TAX package four times LARGER than the previous record of California tax increases obtained by Gov. Brown in 1959. Therefore his first budget reflected an increase of over $1B...and this from a Republican that ran on cutting taxes. Now jump ahead to Shrub I and his famous..."Read my lips. No more tax increases." And then we got a tax increase, but this is where history takes an ironic twist. The Repub's help oust him from office for his "mistake", leading to the greatest sustained boom in US history. Now we are back to Shrub II and his campaign promise to not be a nation builder and to "keep" a balanced budget.... And they wanted to oust Clinton for getting a hummer!!!! Wake up America....our soldiers are dying in a foreign war in which the Shrub lied to you, your neighbor can't find a job, your friends can't afford your medicine, your schools are being closed for lack of money. I say YOUR because nothing ever bads happens to those who believe this will not happen to them!!! And just to close with another example of how the Repub's like to tell others how to live and their hypocrisy towards those DAMN immigrants...seems ARNULD has been caught in a little lie and some hypocrisy of his own... bayarea.com
