I thought Freidman was pretty far out with that column, as you seemed to think also. No, my point was that the present Israeli government has not thought about the longer term consequences of their actions, save within the framework of force and fear. I simply don't know enough about this conflict to know whether Friedman is right about the final one state bit. But my guess is he's a great deal more right than the present Israeli government thinking force and fear and will produce better long term security. Now if the point is revenge, then they may have a point. But then they've terribly misunderstood the meaning of their acts, or, as the Bush people keep saying, the consequences.
