It is certainly possible that some tech company today becomes the "Schwinn bicycles" of 2003. My guess is that company will be a software company, probably enterprise software specifically.

The schwinn bicycle phenomenon, for those that don't know, is where a brand name American company gets caught up in the globalization trend du-jour, focussing on costs and not much else, and ends up losing their business. This happened to Schwinn bicycles in the 80s when japanese manufacturing techniques and asian outsourced manufacturing were first embraced by US companies.
