You all act as if he is disembodied from the rest of the Bush adminitration

Do you suffer from a reading comprehension problem?

Not at all...apparently you did not read what I wrote. Ashcroft and his Patriot Act are not a malignant tumor in the Bush administration that once cut out will make everything fine. They are very much a part of the attitude and perspective of this administration. And if you doubt that, then check out the past writings of Wolfie and some of the other neocons in this administration. And then zoom in real close on such cronies as Gingrich, and Santorum and Delay. They are all cut out of the same cloth as John Ashcroft.

and I said that that was an aspect of the Bush administration that I was strongly opposed to. Thoughtful individuals from across the spectrum oppose the Patriot Act and it's ill spawned brethren.

This is no time to be polite and "thoughtful". We let the foxes into the chicken coop; at this point, politeness will not cut the mustard.

freedom....or your beloved capitalism.

If you can't philosophically connect as to why it's and and not or that properly links these two concepts, then you need to go back to school.

The link is tenuous at best. The Chinese are increasingly capitalistic and have very little personal freedom. The Swedes have a great deal of personal freedom and their economic model is a hybrid of capitalism and socialism.

Check that, it was probably some hallowed institute of higher learning that paralyzed your brain and then filled it with soundbites and the contradictory mishmash of your leftist ideology in the first place. My condolences.

Capitalism is not a celebration of freedom and democracy but one that idolizes the ability to make money and those who do it best. Not necessarily a bad thing but your confusion of the two, capitalism and freedom, is amusing!

One thing that convinces me that many of you statist lefties are truly stupid, and not just ill informed, is that you think you can simultaneously cripple the means of production and then expect to loot the productive output. Even a bank robber is smarter than that.

Ahhhh.....here we go......you're bringing out the big guns. Talks of traitors and anti Americanism can't be far behind.

BTW, didn't they teach you in school that our form of government is a republic and not a democracy? Do you have any idea of the difference between these forms of government?

Being a republic and a democracy are not mutually exclusive concepts.

its all about the money!

Read Atlas Shrugged sometime. You might learn why money is the root of all good....

And you said you were a libertarian. Right! You're just another compassionate conservative who underneath it all is......well, just another elitist!
