Nadine - I wasn't aware of Straws reservations to the invasion. But then, the title of the book is "Blair's War" isn't it.

The other point I find interesting was:

Blair had secretly agreed to go to war as early as April 2002, when he had a summit with George Bush at the President’s ranch in Crawford, Texas.

Which would fit into the Mid Term Election Theory. Build up the war fever from April to October and Bingo General Carl Rove has the GOP regain the Senate and gain seats in the House. First President to do that in a mid term election since FDR in 1934. And Bush had a terrible economy of his own doing.
