Considerable standing? LOL... from where I stand I'm not so considerable. The Chinese look like a good bunch all things considered. They have lots of history that says they are ok. Chinese are people too. So they are what we are, only different. And which differences are under constant erosion by the forces of global communications. The cultures of east and west changing under the influence of each other. Once upon a time when communication was by word of mouth and messages were carried on foot, miles were measured in hours and diffusion of cultural change across the span of a continent was best measured over centuries. Nowadays miles are measured in microseconds. And the pace of change has accelerated. One can almost see the changes happen. And yes, so far they have been for the good. Except insofar as high priced silicon-valley software engineering salaries are concerned ;)
