John, I think you correctly see the forest. But I'm a bit disappointed that you couldn't point out the individual trees of deceit used by the Bushistas. Alas, this is just a water-cooler discussion on the Net. So I don't fault anyone here for not completely addressing how the USA PATRIOT Act (UPA) could be interpreted, let alone the errant and erratic amendments that are used by the Bushistas to further degrade our laws. The UPA is basically unreadable, inasmuch as most of it is referential to other laws and documents. Much of the Bush destruction of our way of life is like that. All designed to be devious.
