Re: Candidates: Immigration and Mexico Here to Stay
By Frank del Olmo-LA Times

Interesting that most of the article, del Olmo speaks of the "illegal" immigrants as just "immigrants".

Never in his piece does he say how many LEGAL immigrants the US allows into the US per year, nor how many are allowed from each country in the world.

When I checked a few years ago, we had about 500,000 LEGAL immigrants allowed in to the US, and it was thought to be (from our local US Senators office) that about 4 to 8 TIMES as many came here Illegally. In addition, the President can sign by Executive Order any number of people as "Refugee" status, and that is a large number, and not tallied in any single Department as near as I could determine.

del Olmo seems to express that immigration is the US's "problem", as if that would excuse California from the cost of using the ILLEGAL immigrants ....that California seems to let in on purpose.

Another problem I can see...does California only want people who will do stoop labor as their portion of the legal immigrants?

How do the rest of the US taxpayers and citizens know that California isn't actively trying to allow ILLEGAL immigrants into the State, and therefore, since we don't have border guards on any State, to come to EVERY State in the Union?
