Gray Davis was elected with those faulty machines...what about it RejeK? Maybe if they didn't run a criminal the GOP too might someday might have a governor of CA. But so long as you run the likes of Simons or Issa, its likely you will lose. You see Americans don't like criminals! You understand that basic premise, don't you?

Thanks to the GOP choice to oppose Davis, the margin of victory wasn't even close, rendering any flaws in the punch card system meaningless. Having the choice of replacing them or not BEFORE another election and potentially forestalling another Palm Beach county fiasco, what would you choose? Wait until the margin of victory is so small that every punch card does make a difference? That's like waiting for a fatality at a dangerous intersection before erecting a stop sign. In any case, it looks like both sides can play bare-knuckled politics. What were you expecting?
