Yes, I think he was talking about the think tanks that called. And, I believe he was correct about being ill-prepared. The fighting went brilliantly - we've always been good as that, as a nation - but the post-war was built on false or wildly optimistic assumptions.

Koch is a bit of an oddball. But, unfortunately, politics have reached a point where to grab anyone's attention, you have to say outrageous things. I think Kerry is a typical politician, and Dean is bordering on an outright loon. He's sort of like that uncle or friend that everyone has that you don't want to push too far else they blow up and rant for hours. Not presidential material; I think a lot of Demos overlook this (fatal) flaw because they're excited about the excitement he generates. I remember that McGovern generated that same excitement.... :)
