Good point. It could be used to exclude all bulls or all bears on a specific stock. I suppose were such to happen, you could intervene to stop that.

In the stock area, what I've seen are moderated threads used for is to eliminate politics from a stock thread- -usually because a previous unmoderated thread had turned into a political battleground and a new start was wanted. I would call that a legitimate and responsible use of moderation.

All possible approaches have their pros and cons and no one solution will be perfect, but I think that a hybrid of both approaches along with some other changes could result in a pretty optimum solution.
I'd suggest leaving matters alone. I don't see a swamp that needs draining.
