Yes that's pretty close.

Because posts would be neither deleted nor prevented, I'd envision letting moderators have even finer control. In other words, the ability to move individual posts (as well as posters) to the alternate track. Of course, the moderator might like to elevate a post from the alternate world to the main track, (for when that chatty off-topic poster squeezes out an occasional but important point or two)

And I'd let the "Drink the Kool-Aid" check-box be always available while navigating through the thread so readers could choose their style of "refreshment" as topics come and go.

As has been mentioned here by others, this style of moderation might even allow multiple editors or moderators for the same thread. Imagine Point vs Counterpoint moderated threads (Hypester vs Basher ?) , although as we all know, a good moderator should edit objectively and not so as to extinguish dissent from his or her own opinions (now that's an alternate reality concept for ya.)

In addition: Announcement, News Item, and FAQ style threads could be moderated tightly so that intertwined commentary and reaction would be in the "alternate" world.

All this and nobody gets bleeped
