Perhaps Bill Simon should have tried to have them thrown out and had those votes for Davis disqualified. Could you imagine the outrage on the left if a repub pulled this kind of stunt?

We use the punch card ballot in Illinois. It doesn't take a genius to stick a stylus in a hole and push.

I think the argument is that punch card machines are more prevalent in minority districts than non-minority districts, and since they have a higher failure rate, will skew the election results slightly.

No, at least in Florida, and I assume in California, the argument is that punch card machines are more likely to be used in minority areas. It's about the failure of the machines, not the failure of the users.
