Long overdue -- and since way before 9/11.

Emphasis on multiculturalism and cultural diversity is getting in the way of proper history and civics educations, particularly the teaching of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and its aftermath, say some education experts who are demanding teachers refocus their classes.

Social Studies and history classes do not generally take up current events. That is another subject since both history and social science are meant to place the events in context, and the results of current events are obviously not known. It may be proper to show how events in the past lead to or shaped recent events. Generally 20 years (or a generation) is the proper timescale.

The unnamed experts mentioned in the article are probably homeschool parents or think tank employees with another agenda.
