that in general, militaries and police tend to want to be in charge overall, rather than being in the position of servant of We the Sheeple, [not just me]. Hence the Kims, Maos, Stalins, Hitlers and on and on and on.

Maurice, I think it's unfair, unjust, and just plain wrong for you to equate American military leaders with the Kims Moas, Stalins, and Hitlers of the world. We have a unique culture, unique heritage and unique history of civilian rule of democracy in America which is appreciated and admired by our military establishment. They would no more stand by and accept the growth of a Hitler, as any civilian in America would.

The attitude of the American civilian population is reflected in the attitude of our military leaders and military policies. One is aligned with the other, because, both are steadfastly based on the laws of the Constitution and vision of the Declaration of Independence.

That uniqueness is one of many reasons why America has rejected coups and other forms of autocratic domination.

I appreciate your many thoughtful posts; however, your underlying assumption that America is just like any other country in the world neglects to take into account our special role in keeping the peace and protecting fledgling democracies around the world.

If world peace and preventing the spread of Hitler’s in the world were left up to New Zealand, we would all be ruled by fascist Japan or Germany today.
