It's funny, as I read your post about seeing people before they pass away, George Jones came to mind. Was unfamiliar with the nickname, though. Don Imus related a story about George Jones awhile back. His bus was traveling across the Rockies, and George had been sleeping for awhile. When he woke up he asked the driver where they were. The driver told him they were going through Donner's Pass, the place where some people had become stranded and eaten one another. Jones was said to have replied, "Ah hell, I've been drunk for a month, must've missed it." His drinking songs from the 70s are outrageously funny....
