If America pulls out tomorrow, there will definitely be civil war. That is why you guys are now stuck with it. "You break it, you own it", in other words, just like in the proverbial china shop... If the Iraqis are lucky they will get another strong man, who will be able to hold the country together. If they are not lucky they will get civil war. Democracy has 0 chance in Iraq, imo If Turks got Ataturk who imposed democracy after the Ottoman Empire fell post WWI, I guess it is not impossible for the Iraqis either. The challenge is that such strong & charismatic leaders almost never care for holding elections (with competitors to their power) once they hold the reins of a country...
