This budget deficit will catch up with them before the 2004 election Very true. The real numbers are much worse than advertized, it's really $800 Billion when the theft of SS is factored in. Everyone in Washington has an interest in downplaying the seriousness of the situation, because everyone in Washington is paid off from the Well of taxpayers' pockets. They'll pretend to complain, then vote to spend like drunken sailors anyway, their vicious arguments only being about whether to pay by cash or credit card.
