Sidney, IMO, very few Christians care or take the time to read the history of the church. The beginnings of the true church seems to have been smothered by the Roman emperor, Constantine when he converted. Christians were no longer persecuted but I believe Constantine did it strictly for political purposes to promote peace and to bring stability to his government. This was still a timultuos time for Christianity as greed and power for a few quickly consumed any worthwhile preliminary efforts to true santification of The Church of God. Selling indulgences for salvation of even those relatives who had already died, the Roman church forbidding anyone to read the Bible, praying to statues and putting man made creeds ahead of the true word of God established the church as a monster that to this day many denominations still place creeds before the truth of the written word.

I agree with Shalom that small home groups that do not have to put on any pretenses or of having the biggest Bible is by far more satisfying to God than the lies and harassment of today's sanctimonious churches.
