World Airways boosts outlook; secures Air Force pact (WLDA) by Michael Baron
NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- World Airways (WLDA) gained more than 15 percent to $4.86 after the company received a contract worth $125.8 million to support passenger flying for the U.S. Air Force. Also, citing higher than anticipated military activity due to anti-terrorism efforts, the company boosted its outlook for 2003 to operating income of between $25 million and $30 million on revenue ranging from $470 million to $480 million. World Airways had been looking for operating income of between $15 million and $20 million on revenue ranging from $440 million to $460 million in the period. The company said improved commercial passenger and cargo revenues for the bullish outlook. World Airways also extended its offer to exchange up to $40.5 million in newly issued 8 percent convertible senior notes due 2009 for 8 percent notes due 2004 until Oct. 9.
