Maybe it would, but it's one thing to be perceived as having inherited the problem by your predecessor's too weak posture toward terrorists, and then gain more favor by very aggressive acts towards fanatical Muslims and an unpopular Arab dictator. It's quite another to say you've beaten back the forces of terrorism in Afghanistan and Iraq, only to have those supposedly defeated remnants jump up and bite you a few months before the election. There's risk out there,especially next Summer and early Fall. Let's hope our country is up to the task of dealing with it.
