If you want to get rid of pop-ups you need not buy anything. Just disengage your Windows Messenger service. I know you will say you don't have it turned on and you are not logged in but it doesn't matter, it is still engaged. 99% of all popups come thru windows messenger. I disengaged mine and have never received another popup.

To turn off the Windows Messenger Service, perform the following steps:

Click the Start button, then click the Control Panel icon.
The Control Panel window appears.

In the left window pane, click the Switch to Classic View option.

Double-click the Administrative Tools icon.
The Administrative Tools window appears.

Double-click the Services icon.
The Services window appears.

Scroll down the list in the right window pane, and double-click the Messenger listing.
The Messenger Properties window appears.

Click the drop-down button next to the Startup type: listing.

Click to select the Manual listing.

Locate the Service status: listing and click the Stop button.

The Service Control window appears briefly.
The Windows Messenger Service has now been disabled.

Click the Apply button.

Click the OK button.

Close the Services window.

In the Administrative Tools window, click the Back button.
The Control Panel window appears.

In the left window pane, click the Switch to Category View option.

Close the Control Panel window.

Google has a search toolbar that also blocks pop ups. You can turn it on or off depending on whether you need the pop ups. Go to google.com and then to services and tools and you will find it on the list of options.

I use NoAds to block specific pop up windows.

It is freeware from South Bay Software at:

kollmhn,
Nescape 7 has popup blocking feature built-in you can configure to allow things you want like a warning your online brokerage session is about to expire or nothing at all. It also has a great 'TAB' setup so you don't need to open a new Window for every site.
regards
Kastel

EDIT works for me.
EDIT I'm still on Win98 second Ed.
