Semi Equipment book-to-bill disappoints

And how. By a 20% reduction in orders for July. Or, if you prefer, July orders were overstated by 25%.

From the revision in the 3-month average booking number for July, it is clear that the preliminary number for bookings for July alone (not the 3 month average) was overstated by 25% ($845.6 preliminary versus $676.1 actual approx. for July alone)

Here is the preliminary July report

Billings(Three-month avg.)Bookings(Three-month avg.) Book-to-Bill

February 2003 777.7 760.6 0.98
March 2003 857.1 777.3 0.91
April 2003 840.4 757.3 0.90
May 2003 805.4 723.5 0.90
June 2003 (final) 776.5 722.3 0.93
July 2003 (prelim.) 787.6 763.4 0.97

Here is the final July report which was released yesterday:

June 2003 776.5 722.3 0.93
July 2003 (final) 785.9 706.9 0.90

The SOX is down 0.4% now. Perhaps, it will be positive by the end of the day.
