"The four-week average for first-time claims for state unemployment benefits rose for...."

>>> That's the average for FIRST TIME CLAIMS... not the 'number of unemployed'. Apples and oranges.

Look Bozo.
Nobody cares what the numbers were a year ago, only what the total unemployment is now.

Bush's policies have cost this country 2.3 million - 3.0 million jobs since he assumed office. This is the WORST LOST OF ANY PRESIDENT SINCE Herbert Hoover and the worst since the Great Depression.

We are not gaining jobs if anything, we may be experiencing a jobless recovery. If you count those who have stopped looking for work, the number of unemployed workers is now one of the highest in the last 100 years - around 10% and getting higher every day.

Something has to be done about jobs !!! and it will not be accomplished by giving taxes to the rich.
