As for communism, it did not fail but rather the economic system of the USSR failed. They are not the same thing.

Unless living in the USSR (when it was active) was living in a working man's Utopia, then communism failed. The fact that an economic collapse actually got rid of it is beside the point.


I think you missed my point. The economic system was not a communist model as proposed by Marx. In fact, it was a hybrid........a bad one at that.......with its most predominate feature being that of an oligarchy where everything is controlled by a few at the top. Russia now has a more capitalistic system but again with an oligarchic overlay.

I think most defectors from the USSR think they had it better over here.

I realize that's a point you had to make but that issue was never even brought up, let alone in dispute.
