You may not think of them that way, but it would probably behoove you to realize that they may think of themselves that way. Tim McVeigh had his own personal lame rationalism for murdering people, and I see these Islamist terrorists in the same vein. There's nothing to understand about these people, other than the fact that they're criminals and should be dealt with as such. These Islamist extremists offer the human race nothing, not an the moral level, not on the scientific or any other level. The worst of them, like bin Laden suffer from such delusions of grandeur that it's almost beyond belief.
