45% of the American people believe that Saddam was personally involved in 9/11. They got that impression from the White House and this administration. Bush and his people constantly talk about 9/11, terrorism, and Saddam in the same speeches - although, outside of Cheney, not being so bold as to actually link them, they implicitly link them at every opportunity.

In fact, Cheney still seems to be hoping and praying for a link. I would guess he has some skin in the game; maybe he used it to convince Bush to invade Iraq. However, he is contradicting Rice, Powell, and Bush himself, who've all said in the past week that there is no link:

Yes, I'm sure that half the nation simply spontaneously came to the conclusion that there was a link between 9/11 and Saddam. Why? Maybe because we're supposed to be after the 9/11 terrorists and we invaded Iraq; surely there must be some link? We won't invade another country just to acquire their oil, right? Especially since everyone was fooled by that 'crafty' Saddam about the WMDs?

I'm not surprised that you don't know what a Think Tank is. Surely you know what the Middle East is, no?

You know the difference between the Vietnam quagmire and the Iraq quagmire? Iraq is drier...
