Karl Rove needs a new distraction.

The Iraqi war was a good distraction for the mid term elections, but it has turned out to be a mess. He needs an even bigger distraction, but having Bush start another war will probably send the wrong message, one of the reckless unilateralist.

If he can let a bigger war in Israel start, it will provide the distraction and he can get half the people blaming Arafat and the other half blaming Sharon, the major point is that few will be blaming Bush. Rove will instruct Bush to goad both parties to war.

Bush said future loans to Israel would be cut if Israel expands settlements on the
west bank, but what Bush said amounts to a slap on Sharon's wrist.
I can't say whether Bush would support Sharon's murder of Arafat. If Bush murders
Saddam, it might be hard to control Sharon.
