Yes I am a Christian. That means that I have been saved through faith, not by any works. It's a gift from God. I was 14, that was 34 years ago. Someone who goes to Church, reads the word, acts out a Christian faith but has never got on his knees and asked Jesus into his heart and been born again would not be one of the saints. Yes God is holy. He dwells in unapproachable light. His character is never changing. His ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts. Who has understood Him? Who can instruct Him? He desires compassion, not a sacrifice. His mercy triumphs over judgement. His Son on the basis of an indestructible life rose again from death, defeating death for all the saints. Death has no hold on Him because no sin was found in Him. He is blameless. And He gives us His righteousness and death has no hold on us either, those who are saved.
