First it was individual attacks - RPG, grenade or homemade bomb. Then starting in August, vehicle bombs were added to the mix, with devastating effect. Now there seems to be a new element - convoy attacks. With these, the initial barrage - although deadly, isn't the goal. Rather it's to stop the the convoy, and then "pick off" targets - either from the convoy, or any rescuers. This approach requires much more organization and size of force. The fact that such "incidents" are now starting to occur, belies CPA reassurances that "we are winning this war".
