My power went off last night right at nine just long enough to cause flashing lights in some of my appliances but not long enough to inconvenience me. From where I sit, Isabel was much ado about nothing.

I had lunch with a friend today whose power has been out since dinner time yesterday. She lives in the same community only a couple of blocks from me. She has always lost power more easily than I for some reason we can't fathom. She and I chose an Arlington restaurant for lunch since there was some kind of hit on the water authority for Alexandria and there's a suggestion that the water might be contaminated. We did see a couple of smaller trees down during our outing. But it's a lovely day here today. Lots of people out walking and out lunching. The outdoor seating was full to capacity in all the nearby restaurants and there were long lines at the theatres.
