Assuming google is about the same as ebay, would we be better off if we ebay remained private? Does ebay depend on financing activity? No. Does Google depend on financing activity? For day to day operations, no. They certainly needed financing to launch. I think its funny that questions like this are bantered about here. I doubt very seriously that shutting off a Google IPO would be considered even an option in congress. Too much money, too many jobs, too much opportunity down the drain because some financial folks came up with a theoretical model about what they thought options should be worth, sortof.
