The Timber/Lumber equation can be misleading. It would seem that following a commodity appreciation theme, one needs to be careful about what happens to the the finished goods side of these businesses.

I am guessing we may see asset appreciation (off balance sheet)in the timber, but perhaps some offset in operations--due to lack of pricing power. Mills can lose their shirts in that environment. That environment bankrupted most of the mills in Oregon and Washington.

Then came the timber exporters.
