As I said I don't know your circumstance.

In general, the ethics of the situation would revolve around the degree of choice involved. For example, in your own area there are many grandchildren of sharecroppers. They were in theory willing to work for what was being paid (in advance via loans), but in reality they had so few options that their labor was scarcely different from slavery.

On the other hand, perhaps this person likes the combination of flexibility and lack of responsibility that comes with simple work and the pay is "good enough". As you are closer to the situation you would be more likely to be able to enlighten me.
