Currently I believe our rate in Iraq is something less than 10 deaths per week.
Do you have any statistics on the injury rate? In Vietnam the troops had little to no body armour and less developed emergency medical care. There was also about 4 times more troops in country. The total casulty rate in Iraq may be just as high.

This study shows casulty rates for the urban fighting in Vietnam in casulties per 1000 troops in combat.
