Yes, I happen to know why you have to have gallons of Clorox on hand.

First of all, you needed it to clean all the bathtubs. sinks, and anything you got that can hold water for a couple of days to a couple of weeks.

Second, after the hurricane's passed and you taking out all the carpet, knocking out the sheet rock, etc. you needed a couple of gallons per room to kill any mold that's already started growing.

Nowadays, with bottled water and restoration companies, many people don't need umteen gazillion gallons of Clorox. There is still a small amount of people that don't have the luxury of bottled water (cause they general store don't carry 'em or else they too far off the beaten path for delivery) and the money to pay restoration companies.
