I agree with your response mostly except for the above point. It may be true in general but it is not true in my state or township. Principal of our high school gets more than 150K and the average teachers salary for 9 months is 56K. It is more to do with union and the like.
Just two years back they,after regular strike threat during Bubble time- Oct 2000, got medical coverage for their kids
upto 25 years. This is unheared of in private sector where 21 is the max. I am not completely against the union but as long as they are reasonable.
