lbs1989, ten "gold" stocks...

hmmmm, now that's a good question.... Here are my ten in descending order of investment allocation at today's prices. Golds, though they may have a bit of silver or copper and blue sky mixed in....

NEM
GG
GOLD
RANGY
HM
NXG
Ivanhoe
GSS
WHT
HL

Sorry, not much emphasis there on the junior exploring prospectors. I'm sure there will be at least ten junior gems offered as worthy prospects for your friend to pick from..

Gold stocks - ABX is cleaning up their hedges and moving away from the "dark side"...slowly.

Also consider FCX.

More importantly, consider metals other than gold, and diversified mining companies like BHP, RTP, PD, N

lbs: ANO/U.TO; AGI.V; CKG.V; CMD.V; MNP.V; SRM.V. at
today's prices, but I'd only buy now with that % of capital that corresponds to one's conviction that gold is going up from here and not coming back down any time soon. For me that would be about 33%. On pullbacks, I'd add MJS.V, CBD.TO, GBN, GRS and GLG if you want a miner. I would double-weight Anatolia and underweight any diamond or base metals plays.

Here are mine - I would appreciate any comments. Frankly I believe gold is going to break out over $400.00 this year. If that occurs - what are the boards best "rides" for the run that would occur.

Thanks! Bob

Wolfden - T.WLF
American Bonanza - V.BZA
Panoro - V.PML
Richmont - T.RIC
Gold Corp - T.G
Couer D'Alene - CDE

1. To answer the question you asked:

AGIGF/AGI.V
CAU
CURSF/CBD.TO
DSUNF/DSM.TO
GBN
MNG
NEM
NXG
RIC
WHT

2. I think an equally important question has to address the pragmatics of buying and selling. To be of any use these stocks cannot be considered as financial abstractions. Your friend has to be able to buy and sell efficiently. This gets into what country your friend is operating from, what brokerage he has access to, and other similar factors. For example, I am a U.S. investor with access to U.S. brokerages, but not PennTrade. I loose about 5% each on the buy and sell of Canadian stocks, and I seem to have a lot more trouble with liquidity than other folks on this thread. Still, I've had one 10-bagger (Minefinders), and I've made a lot of money on others (Corner Bay, etc per Claude, Russ and others((thank you everybody!))). Note however, that my suggestions above concentrate on U.S. listing. The Canada-only listings have to be long-term holds and sure winners (IMO).

So I suggest that your friend review your compiled list of 10-best gold stocks with a view to ease of transaction, and eliminate any that he can't buy/sell efficiently. This may result in less than 10 in the final list--so substitute multiple 10% increments in NEM--e.g.--10% each six stocks and 40% NEM. NEM is wonderfully liquid, a good market proxy, and a lot more simple than a mutual fund. Wish your friend good luck.

I'll add my current favourites..

RANGY
FCX
KGC (or K on the TSE)
GLDR (or GLR.a on the TSE)
GFI
HMY

If you like Palladium
PAL (this is still cheap - will do well with Pd over $250)

How about some diamonds for some sparkle

ABER (ABZ on the TSE) - Maybe wait for a small pull back (don't expect too much)
MPVI (MPV on the TSE) - Buy this now and then wait a while

Disclaimer I own all of these and think they will all make money.. Best speculative buy GLDR IMHO...
