He is the first brilliant Secretary of Defense since McNamara and of course everyone knows what McNamara did for our country Good point. This goes to the heart of the dangers of an unaccountable DOD. Rumsfeld casually announced $2 TRILLION MISSING earlier this year. Our all-powerful central gov't just yawned, about this $20,000 per household in theft, or incompetence, take your pick. 9 times out of 10 "missing" dollars are theft, in business and gov't, which is guaranteed whenever there is no accountability. There's a book called "Secrets" about the new phenomenon of institutionalized gov't secrecy in our Republic over the past several decades, which has become the tool of control over citizens in general and taxpayers in particular.
